There are 39 parks and recreation areas within the city of Fontana with miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails, a one-acre pond and playing fields. The 300-acre Martin Tudor Regional Park features a beach, swim lagoon and water slide. The Sierra Lake Golf Course offers championship play with beautiful mountain views. Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead and Mt. Baldy ski resorts are nearby. And the Pacific Ocean is less than an hour's drive.

Fontana, California has a wealth of cultural, historic and educational attractions such as the Fontana Performing Arts Center, The Mary Vagel Science and Nature Center and Fontana Farms Ranch House. Fontana Days, an annual community celebration, brings residents together for four days of festivities. The city also hosts several other annual events including the Festival of Winter Holiday Craft Fair and Parade. There are 17 shopping centers and malls, including Inland Center Mall, Ontario Mills Shopping Center and Village Grove Shopping Center. And racing fans will want to visit the famous California Speedway for NASCAR and Indy car races.

Education

Children grades K through 12 will attend classes in the Fontana Unified School District (FUSD), which includes:

  • 27 elementary schools
  • 8 intermediate schools
  • 4 high schools

As part of the certified State Preschool Program, FUSD offers children ages three to five a comprehensive child development curriculum emphasizing language, literacy and emergent mathematical and scientific thinking. The district also has an excellent alternative vocational machine shop and engineering high school preparing students for careers in engineering design.

The district hosts an annual Building Community Partnerships event, which gives local business people and community members an opportunity to visit a school site and meet with district administrators.

Fontana's schools are recognized nationwide for their fast growth in student achievement.

An Established Community

Fontana, which calls itself the City of Innovation, was incorporated in 1952. The City of Fontana provides a full range of services including police, paramedic, fire department and parks and recreation, for its 154,800 residents.
